PTFE gaskets, PTFE seals, PTFE washers and PTFE envelopes have been manufactured by the R.S.L. family since 2000's. Today we custom fabricate from this material using our in-house technology which includes waterjet cutting, flash cutting and die cutting. Our more than 10 years of experience has built a proven track record of delivering high performace PTFE gaskets and washers that meet or exceed the tolerance requirements of each application. We are committed to on-time delivery and exceptional customer service.
PTFE Gaskets
Our facility accommodates the custom manufacturing of single prototype PTFE gaskets or large scale production runs manufactured from your blueprint or reversed engineered from a sample part.
PTFE Gasket, Seal & Washer Applications
PTFE has a good overall performance
Corrosion resistance: It can withstand all strong acids (including fluoroantimonic acid, aqua regia), strong bases, strong oxidizing agents, reducing agents and various organic acids other than molten alkali metal, fluorinated medium and higher than 300 ℃ sodium hydroxide Solvent effect.
Insulation: not affected by the environment and frequency, resistivity up to 1018 ohm.cm, dielectric loss is small, high breakdown voltage.
Resistance to high and low temperature: the impact of little change in temperature, temperature range, can use the temperature -190 ~ 260 ℃.
Self-lubricating: the smallest coefficient of friction in plastic, is the ideal oil-free lubricating material.
Surface non-stick: known solid materials can not adhere to the surface, is a surface of the smallest solid material.
Resistant to atmospheric aging, radiation resistance and low permeability: long-term exposure to the atmosphere, the surface and performance remain unchanged.
Noncombustibility: Limited oxygen limit below 90.
PTFE provides excellent thermal insulation and is the most chemically resistant plastic known. It is unaffected by most corrosive liquids, vapors and gases, and conforms to both FDA and AMS specifications. PTFE will insulate to 500 volts per mil and does not melt. Because of these properties, PTFE gaskets, washers and seals are used in the following industries:
Electrical Applications
Food, Beverage & Pharmaceutical
Laboratories
Petrochemical & Chemical Processing
Semi-Conductor
PTFE Gasket, Seal & Washer Material
PTFE resin performs well in many applications without fillers i.e. in its "virgin" state. In fact, fillers can lessen its outstanding electrical and chemical properties. In mechanical applications, however, compounds of PTFE and inorganic fillers offer imporved wear resistance, reduce creep and initial deformation, and increaed stiffness and condcutivity. Hardness is increased, and the coefficient of thermal expansions is decreased. Compounds can therefore make it possible to gain the advantages in applicaitons where the unfilled resin cannot be used.
R.S.L. Rubber is a distributor of a variety of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) material. Considered to be one of the most commonly available gasket materials in the marketplace today, we offer the following solid sheets (virgin PTFE), skived, reinforced and 100% expanded PTFE material:
Reinforced PTFE with silica filler resistent to: Strong acids (except hydrofluoric), solvents, hydrocarbons, water, steam, chlorine, and cryogenics.
Reinforced PTFE with glass microspheres filler resistent to: Moderate concentrations of acids and some caustics, hydrocarbons, solvents, water, refrigerants, and cryogenics. Glass has little effect on most of the electrical properties of PTFE.
Reinforced PTFE with barium sulfate filler resistent to: Strong caustics, moderate acides, chlorine, gases, water, steam, hydrocarbons, and aluminum fluoride Conforms to FDA regulations.
Expanded PTFE sheet is much softer and more flexible than regular PTFE and thus conforms easily to irregular and rough surfaces. The material is easier to compress and minimizes creep and cold flow.
PTFE Film (virgin solid sheet)
Additional PTFE material is available upon request.
